Zero Waste Week - an online campaign on reducing waste
What happens when you throw something 'away?' Changing consumer perceptions
This week (September 3rd - 7th) is Zero Waste Week!
It's an annual awareness campaign for reducing landfill which runs the first full week in September, and this year is the campaign's 10th year running!
Almost exclusively online, Zero Waste Week is all about raising awareness of how much waste we generate, and to focus on reducing it.
Founded in 2008, by Rachelle Straus, Zero Waste Week challenges consumers, households, and businesses to reduce landfill waste. The campaign reaches over 55 million people around the world and attracts media attention from radio to documentaries to film.
How to get involved with Zero Waste Week
Taking part in Zero Waste Week is easy. You can sponsor, donate, and/or make a pledge.
If you sign up to the campaign, you'll receive emails full of tips and tricks to help save money, reduce waste, and protect the environment. The campaign has a communal feel, with many people getting involved and taking action!
And as the campaign is digital, you can share photos and posts online and across social media with the hashtag #zerowasteweek.
